Jungheinrich ranks among the most sustainable one per cent of companies globally
Renewed EcoVadis award with outstanding environmental protection results
Consistent climate strategy based on the detailed CO2 balance sheet
For the second time in a row, Jungheinrich has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum sustainability certificate. This places the intralogistics expert in the top one per cent of companies worldwide in the areas of environmental protection, human rights and sustainable procurement.
How do companies fare, in terms of corporate responsibility? The EcoVadis rating agency examined more than 100,000 companies worldwide to answer this question. Only the most sustainable one per cent of them are awarded the highest platinum certificate by EcoVadis. Jungheinrich has now been awarded this highest rating for sustainability for the second time in a row, making it once again one of the most sustainable companies in the world, according to EcoVadis. Dr. Lars Brzoska, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG, explains: "Jungheinrich creates sustainable value – this is evidenced by the repeated EcoVadis Platinum award. As a family-owned company, our claim is to combine innovative products and economic success with ecological and social responsibility."
EcoVadis pays particular tribute to Jungheinrich's performance in environmental protection, rating the company's commitment in this area as "outstanding." Jungheinrich consistently pursues the goal of becoming carbon-neutral and has clearly committed itself to the Paris 1.5-degree climate target. The use of renewable energies, for example, by generating its own solar power through photovoltaic systems, was also included in the EcoVadis rating. Furthermore, Jungheinrich adopted its own Labour and Human Rights Code years ago, to which all direct sales companies in 41 countries worldwide have committed themselves. To ensure sustainable procurement, Jungheinrich systematically evaluates its suppliers’ conduct in the areas of human rights, the environment and compliance. This currently involves over 700 suppliers, representing more than 75 per cent of Jungheinrich's global purchasing volume.
The current platinum rating represents the fourth consecutive time EcoVadis has awarded top certification to Jungheinrich. In 2019 and 2020, Jungheinrich was awarded Gold, and in 2021 Platinum for the first time. The company continues to consistently drive forward its commitment to sustainability.
As one of the world's leading institutions for assessing corporate responsibility, EcoVadis has evaluated more than 100,000 companies worldwide. The methodology is based on international standards for sustainability and takes into account over 200 purchasing categories and more than 175 countries. The assessment is based on 21 indicators in four subject areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
