Bataillard AG, based in Rothenburg, Switzerland, is one of the largest wine merchants in the country based on turnover. For more than 20 years this traditional company has put its trust in our products and services with regards to intralogistics.
The company is managed by its fifth generation and operates its own filling plant, it stores and dispatches more than 20 million litres of high-quality wines every year. Bataillard offers its clients, which are specialist wholesalers, retailers, and caterers a variety of services from filling into different types of bottles to labelling, order picking, and inventories as well as sales support and dispatch. The company has relied on our expertise in all aspects of warehouse logistics since 1995. As capacity ran out in Rothenburg in 2012, it was decided that a new high bay warehouse should be built. It was commissioned a year later, and at the same time Bataillard also took delivery of an EKX 515 high rack stacker.
We designed a bespoke high bay warehouse tailored to Bataillard’s requirements featuring three fully automatic operating units, providing space for 10,600 pallets. A picking tunnel with 260 picking locations and dynamic order picking ensure optimal efficiency during stacking and retrieval. The conveyor technology is directly connected to the filling plant, meaning that storage takes place automatically via the quickest route. The new EKX 515 high rack stacker also shows what it is capable of during order picking. With its ergonomic design and cost-effectiveness, this fork lift truck, complete with its five million configuration options, brings high performance to narrow aisle warehouses.
IBataillard uses around 30 of our trucks in 2-shift operation, including hand pallet trucks, fork lift trucks, and the ETV 110 reach truck. Operating manager Dr. Klaus Veit appreciates these, and says: “All forklift trucks are high quality and extremely durable. The product range at Jungheinrich provides us with ideal solutions for our varied requirements - whether it is supply or disposal from the filling plant with filling goods and materials, or during order picking.” He also has only good things to say about the quality of service: “Our intralogistics must always be in superb condition, so maintenance and service are of paramount importance, as well as reliability. We are very satisfied with the co-operation and look forward to the future.”
